Asher Russem

General Manager

A Manhattan native, Asher grew up dining at New York City restaurants, developing a love for them at an early age. After graduating from college, he began his tenure with Union Square Hospitality Group at North End Grill in 2015, rising from food runner to lead server. The following year, he joined the Michelin-starred team at The Modern and worked his way up to captain. In 2018, driven to work on a restaurant opening, Asher signed on as part of the opening team at Manhatta, training and organizing the front-of-house team. After Manhatta’s successful opening, Asher then returned to The Modern as a restaurant manager. After briefly leaving USHG during the pandemic, Asher rejoined the group to open Maialino (vicino) as general manager before moving to Ci Siamo as general manager in January 2023.  

In April 2025, Asher stepped into the role of General Manager at Gramercy Tavern, he looks forward to bringing his signature warm hospitality and outstanding service to the larger team and guests alike.
